Synopsis

Marienne is simply perplexed at her husband Duke Alexias's extreme shift in behavior. He's known for his cruelty. Marienne, too, has received nothing from him but neglect since their engagement. She's resigned herself to being a mistreated prisoner in his home. So then, why? Why would he suddenly profess his love to her and propose to her in earnest? Especially since they're ALREADY married?! A bejeweled bouquet of flowers, courtship akin to that of a fairy tale prince, being addressed as his GODDESS?! There seems to be no end. But despite Marienne's bewilderment, Alexia's sincerity somehow cuts through his bungling displays, and his words of affection begin to thaw her lonely heart. Unbeknownst to Marienne, her once ruthless and unfeeling husband has “returned” from the brink of death. But what could've caused this change of heart? Why is he so desperate to ensure her happiness? And most importantly, will he be able to do right by Marienne this time?
